Yes, they differ in few ways. The person whose purpose is to gain the strength has to do more lifts than the one who is seeking for building the muscles or the one who want to lose his weight. For example, if the normal person is doing the work out for 3 sets, to achieve strengthening of muscles they need to do 5 sets of 10 repetitions.
